Along this path that I have been developing in the area of self-knowledge and personal development since 2001, I found for over 10 years this medicine that I speak and practice so much daily: Traditional Chinese Medicine. To me, this medicine is undoubtedly much more than a medicine, much more than its clinical and therapeutic techniques. This medicine, endowed with ancient philosophies and knowledge, helps us so well to understand and listen to our body: how I what feel can be relate to an organ or system of the body; what foods are making me sick; why I have so many symptoms and manifestations of heat and dryness in my body (or cold and damp!); why I feel sadder in the fall or winter; how a particular symptom or illness may have a deep meaning about my lifestyle or even my life purpose; the relationship of a single point in my body, being able to eliminate a headache in minutes… how everything relates… and how nothing separates… It took many years of this path of self-knowledge to rediscover me. Throughout our lives, it's very easy to get lost, from who we really are, what we really like, what we really need. Undoubtedly, Chinese medicine and its exhaustive study were decisive for this rediscover. And it took even more years of knowledge, experience, therapy, practice, integration and so many challenges ... before i start to helping each other professionally. In an age in which we live this boom of Therapies, Spirituality, and Personal Development, it is crucial to respect and understand that each one has their own way, and it is crucial to be aware of their own way. The responsibility to treat and help each other is neither less nor greater than the responsibility to treat and help ourselves. Being a Therapist should not be a fad or fashion way, and it is crucial to be aware of the path you have taken and even more, of the impact it can have on the lives of those who pass by. While on the one hand, it is wonderful to see this awakening and growth in these areas, on the other hand, it is at least caricatory and frightening, when suddenly everyone becomes influencers, therapists, without the essencial background. Although most really believe that they are doing good for each other and for the world, it is very important to reflect on whether they have just joined one fashion wave, if they really walk, in the way that suggests to others to walk. In fact, the best you can do for others, for the world, is to be happy and honest with yourself. Finding your own balance, health and well-being and not just try to change another's life - because you don't change it :) Achieving your purpose, shining your abilities and gifts, succeeding in every area of your life Be happy and healthy, whatever that means to you! And all this, including the ups and downs of life, challenges and surprises, because none of that disappears - only what changes is the way we react, manage, cope and release. The best you can do is show it, live in the first person, set the example. Respect yourself. Be honest. Be happy. And believe, that just and only by improving yourself, you always improve something and someone around you ...! It is no use read about or knowing in my mind what chocolate is, if it never tastes it. It is no use reading all the books of the great wisdom of the world, if you will never put that into practice. There is no point in gaining immense knowledge if you do nothing with it. It is no use saying wonderful phrases, appealing to consciousness and change, if you are still unconscious and plunged into inner negativity. It's no use meditating if you continue to mistreat each other and / or yourself. It's no use filling social networks with bright, radiant and full of smiles and color photos if your life is still gray ... Do not try, however, to be perfect. Do not neglect a part of yourself, as it may not be well regarded or accepted. Do not forget who you are in order to please others by showing something you are not. Don't follow fashion waves just to feel integrated if that doesn't match your essence. Do not disrespect each other for being who you are, because we are all unique, different and special. Each one has their own story, as you have yours. And don't try to change anyone's story if you live wrapped in your own plot. Before judging the other, look inside and ask: What can I do best for myself that benefits my entire environment equally? If we all did this homework, this inner work, the world would be much better…! © Ana Sofia Rodrigues | All rights reserved

Health is much more than just a state of absence from the disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) itself defines health as: “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of illness and disease”.
This requires awareness of our general state. “How is my body? Do i have energy? Do I sleep well? Do i have any kind of pain in my body? Do i love what i do daily? What are my predominant emotions?" These are some of the questions we can ask to better understand if, even without any diagnosed physical illness, our overall health is well and balanced. Let's think about health and general well-being, considering the physical, mental and emotional aspects. Today, many live “on autopilot” in the face of daily rush, responsibilities and duties that prevent us from stopping, breathing, reflecting, feeling. It is critical to realize that without this time for ourselves, we will not be aware of our own needs and symptoms. My therapeutic approach contemplates a holistic view, understanding, however, that this concept of Holism encompasses two aspects: - On the one hand, the whole that the Human Being himself is, Body-Mind-Spirit; - On the other hand, the integration of the Human Being into the whole to which it belongs. The latter includes geography, culture, social issues, nature, climate and anything that can influence our welfare, whether beneficial or harmful. It should be noted that it is no coincidence that certain diseases are more common in certain countries than in others - the external influence of climate, geography, eating habits, the country's own culture, has an impact on our body. The first aspect mentioned is the most common approached today: Body-Mind-Spirit (or Soul). In addition to the ancient view of Chinese medicine on this subject, the various strands of natural therapies and personal development today tend to take this aspect into consideration. We are not just a physical body. What we think influences. What we eat influences. Our family or professional environment influences. And without a doubt, that our emotions influence our health. It is well established that most diseases are originate in the nervous system and in the inability to manage emotionally. These days are too challenging for most of us, and intelligence and emotional management are essential for the disease or symptoms not to settle in our bodies. Many are unaware of this, but what is certain is that much of the physical diseases, are the "somatic" manifestation of "traumatic" and undigested emotional events. Thus, achieving a state of general health and well-being requires attention to the body, mind, heart (or soul / spirit) and the surrounding environment. Sometimes, it can be enough just change some behaviors and “rituals” of our daily lifestyle to improve our overall health condition. At other times, changes and improvements in diet, balance between work, rest and laser, among others, are needed. Taking care of the body is much more than exercising or eating well. It is respecting it, listening to it, understanding your needs. It is caring and nurturing. It is maintenance and prevention. It is to love him. It is to remember that we can change our house, our clothes, our cars, everything and anything… except our bodies… .this is and will always be the same until we die. Similarly it is necessary to take care of the mind. Knowing how to listen and understand what you hear internally. The mind often lies. The mind can be a wonderful and powerful instrument for our benefit and our health, as a danger to our detriment, bringing disease. Calming the mind these days is critical. One of the best ways to do this is to "move the body" - to get out of the mind, go to the body! There are many healthy, therapeutic and wonderful ways to do this. Stimulating the mind with activities other than regular daily responsibilities is essential. Working focus, concentration, positive thinking, is essential. Observing and rephrasing our internal communication is essential. All of this takes time and training, and all of this can be achieved by anyone who wants and practices it. And the heart? The soul? Or the Spirit? Listening, respecting, nurturing and caring the heart, is just as important do that with the body and mind. Understand that nothing separates and we are this Whole. What makes you smile? Are you giving the world the best you have and are, inside of you? Do you contribute to something bigger? Do you help the others? Are you living your purpose? Are you following the way your heart leads you? Notes: You may even feed and rest well, but if your head never goes off, if you have negative thoughts all the time, if you hate what you do daily and / or can't be kind to those around you…? Are you taking care of yourself, respecting you, happy and healthy? On the other hand, you are even a kind, kind person, love your work and feel fulfilled… meditate whenever you can… read and stimulate your mind correctly… but do not exercise, do not eat well and consume all harmful foods for your body ... Are you taking care of yourself, respecting you, happy and healthy? And even if you eat well, rest, meditate, stimulate your mind correctly and nourish your body correctly, but you remain unhappy daily, in a toxic relationship or in a job that you cannot tolerate… You will be taking care of yourself, respecting yourself, happy and healthy? We are hardly 100% happy and healthy 24 hours a day, that's for sure. Life's challenges and external stimuli will always arise and misalign us momentarily, somewhere in time and space. None of this disappears completely. However, we can make the best conscious choices for ourselves by considering this All that we are. It's not always easy, but it's not impossible either ... It's all a matter of balance… Finally, I propose in this article the change of perspective regarding our health: focus on prevention rather than treatment. Focus on health and not disease. The days we live are intensely challenging, at the most varied levels ... Very few people right now can say that they are totally fine, without personal, relational, health, professional or monetary difficulties… The times we are living are really challenging, something necessary to achieve a Greater Good, I believe. Living challenges and difficulties does not invalidate failing to value all the good we are and have. Something that can be very difficult at certain times. I often say that “it's all a matter of balance” I am not very much in favor of radicalisms or even too many rules. Today's life in society is already so rigid that radicalism or too many rules can so aggravate our internal state. Sometimes we need to know how to adapt. Sometimes we need to have "waist play"... Rowing against the tide can be exhausting and frustrating. As someone would say, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" It turns out that many of us insist on wanting natural orange juice when life only gives us lemons! That doesn't mean we'll never taste our wonderful orange juice again… but until then, why not enjoy the lemons? So many times we get stuck in the event that hurt us, frustrated us, or in some way failed ... we get stuck complaining about it, allowing it to get stuck in our physical and emotional body as well. This is where the so-called “waist play” resides ... How often have you stood complaining about the door that closed without seeing the many windows that opened before you? How many times do you sit on the couch with nothing to do, and instead of savoring this "delicious acute laziness", do you spend your time criticizing and assaulting yourself for just being on the couch? How many times has a mistake in your life led you to another unexpected “right” turn? So many similar questions could be asked… Focus on your center, without ignoring what is going on outside ... Meditate and reflect on what you can and cannot change ... Take your responsibility without taking the whole world behind you ... Have fun too ... please !! Sometimes you can forget the rules ... but remember that you need discipline to reach your goals ... Feed your body well with natural, rich and healthy foods ... but every now and then jus enjoy a big and delicious ice cream !! Laugh, dance, run ... but if need, stop, sit and cry!! Release… And then ... Be grateful for all that you have lived, all that you are and have ... It's all a matter of balance… <3 © Ana Sofia Rodrigues | All rights reserved |
